Laboratory

Holdenville General Hospital is CLIA certified for the following modalities, Hematology, Routine Chemistry, Endocrinology, Urinalysis, Toxicology and Blood Banking for ABO and RH Group, Coagulation, Antibody Screen and compatibility testing. We are also certified to do limited Parasitology. Our CLIA number is 37D0475880 and expires August 2011. Holdenville General is also a collection site for DOT and pre-employment urine drug collections. We do not perform the test we only collect. All lab personnel are trained collectors.

All our laboratory analyzers are interfaced with the hospital EMR system. This means that the results from the analyzers are automatically sent to the EMR system when the analyzer has completed all testing order to be run on each analyzer.

Our laboratory uses the Criterion II to read urine dipsticks for urinalysis. Each specimen is identified using a barcode reader. This analyzer is a semi-automated analyzer (each stick has to be dipped and place on the analyzer by a tech.

The CA500 is a semi-automated analyzer used to perform coagulation tests, Protimes, INR and APTT. Patient samples are identified by the analyzer using a barcode reader.

The Beckman Coulter ACT diff 5 is a semi automated hematology analyzer that performs a 5 part differential on all CBCs (Complete Blood Count). The analyzer punctures the cap on the specimen when sampling a specimen for employee safety. Patient identification is entered manually on this analyzer it does not have a barcode reader.

The Roche Omi 1 is used for arterial blood gas analysis (pH, PCO2 and PO20) on patients. This analyzer has a QC module that automatically performs the required number of QC analysis daily. The EMR sends the patient information system to the analyzer when the specimen has been ordered. Lab personnel have to inter the sample ID number and the analyzer will place the patient information with the results.

The Siemens Dimension Expand Plus is used for performing all chemistry procedures this includes Endocrinology testing (Thyroid test) and Cardiology testing such as Troponin, CKMB and ProBNP. This analyzer is also used to measure therapeutic drugs Digoxin, Theophylline, Dilantin, Vancomycin levels and Valporic Acid, besides performing all routine chemistry test the analyzer also performs Quantitative HCG, PSA and A1C testing.

The EMR system sends the patient information and the ordered test to the analyzer, the analyzer reads the samples barcode to identify the patient with the test that was sent to the analyzer by the EMR.

The analyzer is an automated analyzer that reconstitutes its own reagents when needed; it also seals all biohazard material in the cuvettes for easy and safe disposal.

The analyzer will perform most of these tests within an hour after the patient specimen is placed on the analyzer.

Blood Banking procedures are performed using the Ortho Gel system and our blood and blood products are used for transfusion is obtained from Oklahoma Blood Institute.
